Patriarch Kirill's Visit to Belarus: Faith and Commemoration in Polotsk Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia recently concluded a visit to Belarus, coinciding with the 900th anniversary of the Spaso-Efrosinievsky Monastery in Polotsk. The trip included a wreath-laying ceremony at Minsk's Victory Monument, a gesture of remembrance for those who fought in the Great Patriotic War. In Polotsk, the Patriarch led services, drawing thousands of worshippers from across the country. "This is a blessing for our land," said one resident, expressing the widespread sentiment of reverence. Another resident, helping with preparations, noted: "We've been preparing for this for a long time, to welcome all the guests with special joy." The celebrations included a traditional procession through the ancient streets of Polotsk, following the route of Euphrosyne of Polotsk, whose 5th of June feast day was also observed. The event showcased the strong religious ties between Belarus and Russia, underscoring the shared history and cultural heritage. The monastery's restoration, a project spanning a quarter-century, was also highlighted, showcasing the community's dedication to preserving its religious and historical significance.
