Pedestrian Safety Concerns Raised Over Lack of Crossing in Belarusian Town
A Belarusian resident, Костя Стукач, has highlighted a safety concern regarding the absence of a pedestrian crossing near a bus stop in his town. He filmed a short video showing the busy road and lack of safe crossing points. In the video, Mr. Стукач explains that he contacted the local administration. "I received a response stating that due to good visibility, installing a crossing was deemed unnecessary under regulation 17.2," he stated. The administration cited the regulation, which allows crossing in the absence of a designated crossing if visibility is sufficient. However, Mr. Стукач argues that the high volume of traffic during peak hours makes crossing dangerous. The incident raises questions about balancing pedestrian safety with regulatory guidelines. The local council is currently reviewing the situation.
