Belarusian Builders Lift Old House for Major Foundation Overhaul
MINSK REGION, Belarus – A significant home renovation project is currently underway in Belarus, involving the intricate process of lifting an old wooden house to replace its deteriorated foundation and lower structural logs. The project, documented by local builder dom_dlya_zhizni_bel, aims to give the aging residence a "new lease on life," as one online commenter noted. The video, uploaded on July 10, 2025, details the initial stages of the foundation work. The house has been elevated, with some sections reportedly lifted by up to 40 centimeters, to allow for the removal of the old, rotted lower wooden logs, known as "venets." These have been replaced, and the structure has been carefully leveled. Currently, workers are preparing the new concrete foundation. Wooden formwork has been installed around the perimeter, lined with a black waterproofing membrane to prevent concrete from adhering to the existing wooden structure. Inside the formwork, a robust rebar cage has been constructed, featuring 10mm rebar for the main horizontal runs and 6mm rebar for the vertical ties, ensuring structural integrity.
