AverMedia Unlocks Nintendo Switch 2 Docking with Portable Charger and Capture Card
AverMedia has introduced a new portable docking solution for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, addressing concerns about third-party accessory compatibility. The AverMedia GC313 and GC313 Pro models function as both 100W power bricks and portable docks, with the Pro version also serving as a 1080p USB video capture card. Nintendo's next-generation console, the Switch 2, is reported to feature a locked USB-C port, intentionally breaking compatibility with many existing third-party docks. However, AverMedia claims to have overcome this hurdle by successfully cloning Nintendo's proprietary commands, enabling their new docks to function seamlessly with the Switch 2. This compatibility is achieved through a firmware update provided by AverMedia. The video demonstrates the device's ability to connect the Switch 2 to a larger display, showcasing gameplay. While the docks offer 4K60 output, they do not appear to support HDR. The AverMedia GC313 and GC313 Pro are priced at $90 and $130 respectively.
