GameHub Revolutionizes Mobile Gaming: Play PC Titles Natively on Android Phones
In a significant development for mobile gaming enthusiasts, the Windows emulator GameHub is now enabling users to play full PC titles, such as the highly anticipated 'Hollow Knight: Silksong,' directly on Android devices. The Verge recently showcased this capability, demonstrating the game running on a Samsung Galaxy S25 with playable framerates. GameHub, developed by gamepad maker GameSir, simplifies a process that previously required extensive technical knowledge. Version 5.0 of the application allows for direct downloads of games and saves from Steam, automatically configuring graphics drivers and settings for optimal performance on the mobile device. "I spent hours trying to do this with all these apps, but it's finally automatic," stated the reviewer, highlighting the app's user-friendly approach. While the experience is noted to be not as seamless as dedicated handheld gaming devices like the Steam Deck, it offers a compelling alternative for mobile gamers. Performance varied across devices, with the Samsung Galaxy S25 featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset reportedly outperforming a Google Pixel 9 with a Tensor G4, which struggled with cut scenes. However, a current limitation noted is the lack of Steam Cloud upload functionality, meaning saves do not yet sync back to PC. Despite this, the introduction of GameHub marks a crucial step towards expanding the library of high-quality PC games available for native play on Android smartphones, offering a new dimension to mobile gaming.
