Relatives of Ashling Murphy's Killer Go on Trial in Ireland
The trial of the relatives of Jozef Puška, convicted for the murder of Ashling Murphy, began in Ireland. The accused, two brothers and their wives, face charges of withholding information and assisting an offender. Senior Counsel Seán Guinan told the jury that after Ashling Murphy's body was discovered, the immediate concern was to identify the killer and uncover events leading up to and following the murder. He highlighted Jozef Puška's return home that night, sharing the residence with the accused. The prosecution's case centers on the claim that the family misled the Gardaí, withholding crucial information. Mr. Guinan stated that Marek Puška withheld information about Jozef's return home with visible injuries and his admission to stabbing a woman. The women, Josefina Granzova and Viera Gaziova, are accused of burning Jozef's clothes, hindering the investigation. All four have pleaded not guilty. The trial continues, with the prosecution aiming to demonstrate the family's actions hampered the investigation and potentially delayed Jozef Puška's arrest. The trial is expected to last four weeks.
