VINNYTSIA, Ukraine – The abandoned 'Russia' cinema in Vinnytsia has become a focal point of public concern following the tragic death of a 17-year-old on its roof. The incident has reignited calls for authorities to secure the dilapidated building, which residents describe as a dangerous gathering spot for youth. Local resident Svitlana Morgunova expressed her dismay, stating, "A girl broke her leg here, and an ambulance came. All sorts of things happen here. This is a real den. You don't even need to look for 'stashes' here; you can put them anywhere. This is a real center for the murder of minors." She highlighted the ease with which individuals can access the premises, emphasizing the lack of security measures. Oskar, a friend of the deceased 17-year-old, confirmed that he had visited the building with the victim about a month prior. While he did not elaborate on the circumstances of his friend's death, he indicated that the entire building, including the basement and attic, was openly accessible, with no cameras or security personnel present. The former cinema, now covered in graffiti and littered with debris and broken glass, poses a significant risk to anyone entering. Despite its hazardous state, young people reportedly continue to frequent the site. Residents are urging city officials to take immediate action to secure the building and prevent future tragedies.
