Ghana Cracks Down on Ramsar Site Encroachment

Ghanaian Authorities Demolish Structures Encroaching on Ramsar Site in Lashibi. The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, led the operation to remove illegal constructions from the environmentally sensitive wetland. Despite some initial equipment challenges due to the terrain, the demolition is proceeding. "We won’t leave any stone unturned. Every house on the Ramsar site is coming down," stated Minister Ocloo. A representative involved in the demolition explained that equipment difficulties were encountered due to the wetland conditions, but that the operation is continuing as planned. The demolition highlights the government's commitment to environmental protection and the preservation of vital ecosystems.
