Supermarket Own Brands Beat Big Names in Taste Test, Saving Shoppers Hundreds
Which? Magazine's recent blind taste test reveals that supermarket own-brand products can often rival, and even surpass, leading brands in terms of taste. The results, showcased in a recent TikTok video, highlight surprising wins for Aldi, Asda, and Tesco's own-brand lines. Aldi's baked beans, for example, were rated as a superior alternative to Heinz, while Aldi's Nordpak butter outperformed Lurpak in the taste test. Asda's Everyday tea bags also scored higher than Twinings, and Tesco's sweet chilli crisps beat out Walkers. "These findings demonstrate that consumers can save money without sacrificing quality," said a Which? spokesperson. The significant cost savings, often more than 50%, make these own-brand alternatives attractive options for budget-conscious shoppers. This study encourages consumers to consider own-brand options and reassess their purchasing habits.
