Vintage Swing: Golf Pro Takes on Windham Course with 1903 Club
WINDHAM, Connecticut – Golf Pro Bart recently took to the greens of the Windham Golf Course for an unusual and challenging round, opting to play with a 120-year-old golf club. The antique club, dating back to 1903, features a traditional hickory shaft for flexibility and an original leather grip, offering a stark contrast to modern golf equipment. Paired with a contemporary 2025 golf ball, Bart showcased the vintage club's performance on the course's 14th and 16th holes. "This is a 100-year-old club with an actual leather grip, a hickory shaft for flexibility," Bart explained, highlighting the historical craftsmanship. After a drive on the 14th hole, he noted, "Didn't roll out but we're gonna try to make par." On the 16th hole, Bart expressed his surprise at the club's capabilities. "Wow, so what a shot! It got to the green," he exclaimed, adding, "This thing was amazing." His attempts to make par with the historic club provided an intriguing look at how golf has evolved, while demonstrating that skill can transcend equipment advancements. The unique challenge offered a blend of nostalgia and modern play on the local Connecticut course.
