Woman Alleges Mounjaro Caused Severe Gastritis, Sparks Debate on Weight-Loss Drug Side Effects
London, UK A social media user, Zari, has shared a candid account of her experience with the weight-loss medication Mounjaro, claiming the drug has led to severe gastritis. In a video uploaded on August 10, 2025, Zari detailed her journey, stating, "As much as I love Mounjaro, I can hands down say it has ruined a part of me. I’ve never had gastritis, in my life but now I do." Zari reported losing 25.5 kilograms over four to five months while on Mounjaro. However, she now experiences "sharp, shooting pain" in her stomach that she describes as "so bad and so unbearable," often radiating from her abdomen. This condition has required her to visit hospitals for intravenous drips. "It's been two months I've been going in and out of hospitals, getting drips and everything because the pain radiates here," she explained, pointing to her stomach. Despite the pain, she acknowledged the drug's effectiveness in weight loss, saying, "I can't blame Mounjaro because it helped me lose the weight." However, she expressed concern about potential long-term side effects. Her blood tests, including liver function, have reportedly shown no abnormalities, leaving the cause of her gastritis linked to the medication in her personal view.
