Málaga Metro Expansion: Key Study Awarded to Typsa and ARCS
Málaga Metro Expansion Plans Unveiled: Typsa and ARCS to Lead Study Málaga, Spain – The Junta de Andalucía has announced the selection of Typsa and ARCS, a consulting firm headed by Malagueño engineer José Alba, to conduct a crucial study determining the future expansion of the Málaga Metro. This decision marks a significant step forward in improving the city's public transportation infrastructure. The study, awarded for €900,000 (VAT included), will take 17 months to complete. It will analyze three key expansion options: a route connecting El Palo and Rincón de la Victoria, another heading towards the Technology Park, and a third option focusing on Ciudad Jardín. These options were identified in the Metropolitan Transport Plan for the Málaga area. "This is a vital step in the future expansion of the Málaga Metro," stated a spokesperson for the Junta de Andalucía. The selection of Typsa and ARCS, following a competitive bidding process involving six proposals, underscores their expertise and commitment to the project. Currently, the Málaga suburban line is undergoing expansion towards Hospital Civil. The Junta's announcement of the study's adjudication aligns with earlier statements by Councillor Rocío Díaz, who indicated in January that, if all went according to plan, the study would be awarded around June. This timely completion demonstrates the Junta's commitment to efficient decision-making and progress on vital public works projects.
