Heavy Storm Damages Over 80 Homes in Jempol, Malaysia A severe storm and heavy rain caused significant damage to 83 homes in Felda Lui Barat and 6 more in Kampung Baru Ayer Hitam in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The incident left numerous families displaced and prompted a response from local authorities. According to Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Nazri Meskam, director of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Negeri Sembilan, 224 people from 62 families in Felda Lui Barat were affected. In Kampung Baru Ayer Hitam, 28 people from 6 families were affected. "We found several roofs had been torn off by strong winds," he stated. The storm also forced the temporary closure of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Lui Barat due to safety concerns. Students were asked to stay home for three days, starting Sunday. Datuk Mohammad Razali Mohammad Ali, the State Assemblyman for Sungai Lui, added that efforts to identify those affected are ongoing. He stated that, "We expect more houses to be affected and the JKKK (Village Development and Security Committee) in Felda Lui Barat are currently assessing the situation." Despite the extensive damage, the community is showing resilience, with neighbors helping neighbors to clean up and rebuild. Local authorities are working to ensure that all affected families receive the necessary support and assistance.
