Eight Individuals Plead Not Guilty in Johor Bahru Assault and Confinement Case JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA – June 3, 2025 – A significant development unfolded today in the Johor Bahru Magistrate's Court as Bella Nuredrianna Balqqisyh Anabella Norazman, 22, and seven male accomplices pleaded not guilty to four charges related to the alleged threats, assault, and confinement of a 22-year-old man. The incident reportedly occurred in April of this year. The charges, read by Magistrates A Shaarmini and Nur Fatin Mohamad Farid, include accusations of extortion, assault, and false imprisonment. According to the prosecution, the victim was subjected to violence and confinement until he agreed to pay a sum of 3,000 ringgit. A portion of this money, 650 ringgit, was allegedly transferred via e-wallet to one of the accused, Muhammad Amirul Hakim Shamsuri. "They will not stop beating the victim until he agrees to pay the money," stated the Deputy Public Prosecutor, highlighting the severity of the alleged crimes. The court has set July 18th as the date for the case to be mentioned again, allowing time for the submission of documents and the appointment of legal counsel for the accused. Bail was granted to all defendants. The case underscores the ongoing efforts to address violent crime and ensure justice in Malaysia.
