Vietnam's Durian Exports to China Hit Record Highs
Vietnam's Durian Exports to China Soar, Reaching \$2.9 Billion in 2025 Vietnam has experienced a remarkable surge in durian exports to China, making it the largest export market for the popular fruit. The value of these exports exceeded \$2.9 billion in 2025, representing a substantial increase compared to the previous year. This success is particularly noteworthy given that durian prices are slightly higher this season, and the fruit has a wetter texture. Despite these factors, Chinese consumers' preference for Vietnamese durian remains strong. "The reception to Vietnamese durian in China is incredibly encouraging," said a durian seller at the Zimfadi Market, expressing optimism about the market's continued growth. The seller also highlighted the increase in sales during May 2025, which rose by almost 40% compared to the same period last year. Vietnam's success is attributed to a strategic marketing approach and the consistently high quality of its durian. This has enabled Vietnam to compete effectively with established players like Thailand and Malaysia in the global durian market. The expansion of durian farms to 180,000 hectares has also contributed to the increased production capacity. This significant growth in exports demonstrates Vietnam's ability to capitalize on global demand and highlights the potential for further expansion in the lucrative Chinese durian market. The positive reception of Vietnamese durian in China signals a promising future for the fruit's export industry.
