Singer Amir Ukays Among 82 Victims of Hajj Visa Scam
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – June 5, 2025 – A significant fraud case involving 82 Malaysian Hajj pilgrims has come to light, with prominent singer Amir Ukays among the victims. Ukays and his wife were among those left stranded at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on June 1st after discovering their 'free' Hajj package was a scam. The scheme involved the use of mujamalah visas, promising a fully sponsored pilgrimage. "It was a golden opportunity, something you don't get every day," Ukays stated in an interview, expressing his disappointment. The police have confirmed receiving seven reports related to the incident and are actively investigating under sections 420 and 511 of the Penal Code. This case serves as a cautionary tale for prospective pilgrims to exercise vigilance and avoid seemingly too-good-to-be-true offers.
