Sarawak's Meat Supply Secure for Eid al-Adha, Minister Confirms

Sarawak's Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom addressed concerns about meat supply ahead of Eid al-Adha, assuring sufficient live cattle are available. He made the statement after visiting the Halal Abattoir Complex and PPES farm in Sibu, Sarawak. "We are free from FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease)," the Minister stated, highlighting the ability to export products. The visit revealed a 16% increase in live cattle compared to previous years. Further initiatives include buffalo farming in Lawas and mozzarella cheese production by year's end. This proactive approach ensures not only sufficient meat for Sarawak but also export potential, boosting local economy and food security.
