Millions of Vehicles Expected on Malaysian Highways for Aidiladha
Aidiladha Holiday Traffic Surge Expected on Karak and East Coast Highways Malaysia is bracing for a significant increase in traffic volume on major highways during the upcoming Aidiladha holiday. An estimated 2.85 million vehicles are expected to use the Karak Highway (KLK) and East Coast Highway Phase 1 (LPT 1) between May 29th and June 9th, 2025, according to data released by highway concessionaires. This represents a substantial increase compared to average daily traffic. "This is a typical increase we see during holiday seasons," said Dato' Ir. Razali Kasim, the director of the Public Works Department of Pahang. "Many people are traveling back to their hometowns to celebrate with their families." Authorities anticipate the highest traffic volume on June 8th, with projections of 97,000 vehicles on the Karak Highway alone. The daily average for the Karak Highway is expected to be 176,800 vehicles during this period. LPT1 also anticipates a substantial increase in traffic flow. Highway authorities are advising drivers to plan their journeys carefully and allow extra travel time. The smooth flow of traffic during this peak holiday season is a testament to the effective planning and management of Malaysia's highway infrastructure.
