Teen Car Thieves Apprehended in Dramatic Gold Coast Chase
Gold Coast Police Chase Ends in Arrest of Two Teenagers A dramatic police chase across the Gold Coast culminated in the arrest of two 13 and 14-year-old boys in Bilinga on June 4, 2025. Police allege the boys stole a Ford Ranger from Hope Island the previous night, leading officers on a pursuit that spanned several hours and involved police from both Queensland and New South Wales. "He was standing there, and he just pulled his piece out," said Chris Denmeade, a witness to the arrest. The officer drew his weapon as the teens were apprehended. The stolen vehicle was eventually stopped with the help of tire spikes deployed by police. The car's owner, Billy Rickman, expressed shock at the incident. "I just said to them, 'Okay, kids jumping in the car, I'll be out in two seconds,' and then the kids started yelling out, 'Dad, your car's not here!'" The boys are facing charges of theft and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. The incident highlights concerns about youth crime and the challenges faced by law enforcement.
