Kazakhstan's Agricultural Census: A 20-Year Gap Filled
Kazakhstan Launches Major Agricultural Census Kazakhstan is undertaking a large-scale agricultural census from August 1st to October 20th, 2025. This nationwide effort aims to gather comprehensive data on the country's agricultural sector, covering everything from large agricultural holdings to individual households. The census, according to Maksat Turlybaev, head of the National Statistics Bureau, plans to survey approximately 2 million households and 300,000 agricultural producers. "This data will be crucial for shaping future agricultural policies," Turlybaev stated in a recent interview. The project is funded by 3.7 billion tenge from the republican budget, allocated for interviewer salaries, equipment, and IT support. Postmen, students, and unemployed individuals, after completing training, will serve as interviewers. The census will proceed in two phases: an online survey via sanaq.gov.kz (August 1-31) and in-person interviews (September 20-October 20). Preliminary results are anticipated in December 2025, with complete reports following in 2026. This census is particularly significant, as the last one was conducted nearly 20 years ago. The comprehensive data gathered will provide valuable insights into the current state of Kazakhstan's agricultural sector and guide future policy decisions.
