'El aceite de árbol de té o el de lavanda pueden interferir en tus hormonas', advierte el experto
Madrid, Spain – A recent video by dermatologist Alex Docampo Dermatólogo highlights potential dangers of essential oils, challenging the common perception of their safety and benefits in skincare. Dr. Docampo states that essential oils, including lavender and tea tree oil, may act as endocrine disruptors, potentially interfering with human hormones. He referenced a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine that linked these oils to prepubertal gynecomastia, the development of breast tissue in young boys. Beyond hormonal concerns, Dr. Docampo warns that applying essential oils to the face can be detrimental to skin health. 'These oils are not only lacking demonstrated efficacy for treating conditions like acne or rosacea,' he explained, 'but they can also be occlusive, clogging pores and leading to more breakouts.' He further noted the risk of allergic contact dermatitis due to components within these oils. Dr. Docampo advised consumers to prioritize skincare products with proven active ingredients, emphasizing that 'natural' does not always equate to 'better' and that the primary benefit of essential oils is often economic for their manufacturers.
