From San Miguel's Soil to Your Cup: The Story of Café Bienestar and Its Farmers

San Miguel, Mexico – In the heart of Mexico's coffee-growing regions, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee is more than just a morning ritual; it's a testament to generations of hard work and a commitment to quality. Anastasia Gálvez, a seasoned coffee farmer, embodies this spirit, sharing her family's deep-rooted connection to the land and its prized beans. "I invite all Mexican families to drink their aromatic coffee in the mornings and at night," says Ms. Gálvez, holding a jar of "Café Bienestar." She proudly states that the coffee "comes directly from the land of San Miguel." Her family's legacy in coffee cultivation runs deep. "Our ancestors dedicated themselves to this," she explains, noting that they cultivated "pure native plants." The knowledge and passion for coffee farming have been meticulously passed down. "People started to learn how to work with coffee, and I, too, have taught my children," Ms. Gálvez shares. "My children also have many coffee plants." This generational transfer of expertise ensures the continuity of traditional farming methods. The "Alimentación para el Bienestar" program plays a crucial role in supporting farmers like Anastasia. The initiative aims to guarantee fair prices for agricultural products, directly benefiting producers and ensuring access to quality food for Mexican families. "We are encouraged by the work with the Collection Center," Ms. Gálvez states, referring to the centers where coffee is purchased. These centers provide transparent information and fair pricing, with a maximum purchase of 500 kg of coffee per producer at $65 per kg. Farmers are provided with 25-kilogram sacks for their harvest, and the quality is rigorously tested. "We hope that this work continues, both for the organized people who collect the coffee and for us," Ms. Gálvez concludes, highlighting the collaborative effort to bring the best of the field to Mexican homes. The program underscores a commitment to supporting local agriculture and preserving the rich heritage of Mexican coffee.
