Lima Schools Mostly Untouched After 6.1 Magnitude Earthquake

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Lima and Callao in Peru on June 16, 2025. The regional director of Education for Lima reported that only 20 schools suffered minor damage. "Only one school, Pachacútec in San Juan de Miraflores, has experienced significant damage," the director stated in a press conference. Consequently, students at Pachacútec will temporarily switch to remote learning. Authorities are conducting further inspections to ensure the safety of all schools.
