Belu, speaking from a bustling street in Cabo Verde, affirms that the country is largely safe for tourists, emphasizing that the local economy's dependence on tourism ensures a focus on visitor well-being. "Cabo Verde is very safe for tourists because it lives almost 100% from tourism, so it has to be taken care of," he stated. However, Belu also highlighted the importance of vigilance. "I have had very good experiences, I have met very good Cape Verdeans, but I have also met people who have tried to steal, who have stolen, and we have even had to call the police," Belu recounted. His conclusion underscores a balanced perspective: while Cabo Verde is generally secure for visitors, it is essential to maintain awareness and not dismiss potential risks. "It is safe, but don't forget this is Africa, and don't let them tell you nothing happens here, because it can happen," he concluded.
