Belarus Launches Road Safety Operation to Protect Children
MINSK, BELARUS – In an effort to improve child safety on Belarusian roads, the State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI) is launching a special operation from May 25th to June 5th. The operation, titled "Attention - Children," will focus on increasing driver awareness and promoting safe driving practices around children. "Drivers need to show increased attention when approaching pedestrian crossings, in residential areas, and where children gather," stated Sergey Babych, Head of the GAI Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee. The GAI will be conducting educational programs in schools and other places where children are present. Additionally, to enhance visibility, all vehicles are required to use dipped headlights during daylight hours throughout the operation's duration. This initiative aims to reduce accidents involving children during this period.
