Eleven Foreign Workers Detained in Kelantan Mine Raid
On May 15, 2025, Malaysian authorities conducted a raid at an iron ore mine in Kampung Pahi, Kuala Krai, Kelantan, resulting in the detention of eleven foreign workers. The operation, led by Commander Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid of the General Operations Force's (GOF) Tenggara Brigade, uncovered various permit violations among the workers. Seven were from Bangladesh, three from Nepal, and one from Indonesia. "Some were working without permits, while others' permits had expired," Commander Nik Ros Azhan explained. The raid highlights ongoing efforts to enforce labor laws and ensure compliance within Malaysia's mining sector. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper documentation and adherence to legal requirements for foreign workers in the country.
