Kuala Lumpur Immigration Raid Nets 143 Undocumented Migrants A recent raid by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) in Jalan TAR, Kuala Lumpur, resulted in the arrest of 143 undocumented migrants (PATI). The operation, codenamed Ops Kutip, took place on May 17, 2025, and involved the inspection of 964 individuals, including 273 foreign nationals and 691 Malaysians. Among those detained were 110 men and 33 women, aged between 22 and 48. According to a JIM official, "Among the offenses were lacking proper identification documents and holding unrecognized passes." The raid highlights the ongoing efforts of Malaysian authorities to combat illegal immigration and maintain national security. The operation is expected to continue in the future to ensure that businesses in Malaysia are not employing undocumented workers.
