
KL Police Crack Down on Reckless Motorcyclists: 55 Bikes Seized, Hundreds Summoned
Kuala Lumpur Police Seize 55 Motorcycles, Issue 939 Summons in Road Safety Operation Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – In a two-phase operation targeting reckless motorcyclists, Kuala Lumpur’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department seized 55 motorcycles and issued 939 summonses. The operation, codenamed "Op Samseng Jalanan," focused on areas known for illegal motorcycle activity. The first phase, beginning at 10:30 PM on May 16, 2025, targeted Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Sultan Ismail. The second phase commenced at 2:45 AM on May 17, 2025, in Jalan Ampang. Over 1300 motorcycles were stopped and inspected. According to Kuala Lumpur JSPT Chief ACP Muhammad Zamshuri Mohd Isa, "Many of the summonses were issued for offenses such as unlicensed riding and lack of road tax." He emphasized the importance of parental supervision to prevent underage and reckless riding. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts to improve road safety in the city. The seized motorcycles are currently being held as evidence, and the drivers face penalties for their violations.
