Malaysia's Agriculture Census: Helping Farmers Achieve Targets
Malaysia's Agriculture Census: Streamlining Data for Farmer Success The 2024 Malaysian Agriculture Census is underway, aiming to modernize data collection and support farmers in reaching their targets. A recent report by Berita RTM highlights the initiative, focusing on the Napie grass farming project in Hulu Terengganu. Farmers like Mohd Riduan Mamat, a Napie grass cultivator, shared their experiences, emphasizing the improved efficiency of data collection and the increased profitability of their harvests. However, challenges remain, including fluctuating demand. The census, led by the Department of Statistics Malaysia, aims to provide comprehensive data for better policymaking and resource allocation in the agricultural sector, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous farming community. Mohd Riduan noted, "The data collection process is much easier now, allowing us to plan and manage our resources effectively." This initiative reflects a broader effort to modernize Malaysia's agriculture and improve the livelihoods of its farmers.
