KTM Komuter Gives 50% Discount After Service Disruptions
KTM Komuter Offers 50% Discount After Train Delays in Lembah Klang Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Passengers of the KTM Komuter train service in the Lembah Klang region of Malaysia are set to receive a 50% discount on their fares for two days. This follows widespread disruptions to the service due to unexpected delays. The discount, announced by KTMB (Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad), will be applicable to all passengers and ticket types, including concessionary fares, from June 3rd to 4th, 2025. "KTMB sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to the recent delays," said a KTMB spokesperson in a statement. "We are undertaking essential upgrades to our signaling system to improve the reliability of our services." The statement further explained that the delays were a result of ongoing work to upgrade the signaling system between Kepong and Salak Selatan stations. This work has been ongoing for the past three days. Commuters expressed their relief at the fare reduction. "It's good that they're giving us a discount," said one commuter, "but it would have been better if the trains had been running on time in the first place." KTMB has also implemented SMS notifications to keep passengers informed of any further delays. The upgrades to the signaling system are expected to be completed by the end of June 4th, 2025, restoring services to their normal schedule. The initiative demonstrates KTMB's commitment to improving its service and compensating affected passengers.
