Fatal Accident Involving UPSI Students Prompts Official Investigation

A tragic accident involving Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students occurred on June 9, 2025, in Jalan Gerik, Perak, Malaysia. The accident resulted in fatalities, prompting Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to request a comprehensive report from relevant agencies. In a statement, he said, "Saya telah meminta laporan penuh daripada agensi-agensi berkaitan untuk tindakan susulan yang sewajarnya." (I have requested a full report from the relevant agencies for appropriate follow-up action.) He urged all parties to be patient and cooperate fully with the investigation. The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
