ER nurse reveals the ONLY person medics allow to skip triage lines
Nurse and mom Caitlin Armstrong recently shared the interesting tidbit to her TikTok account, revealing there is a way to skip the line.
An emergency room nurse, Caitlin Armstrong, recently shed light on the seldom-discussed practice of "skipping the line" in hospital triage. In a video shared online, Armstrong explained that while it's a rare occurrence, certain patients are indeed prioritized for immediate care, often before they even complete the registration process. "There are very few people in triage that get to skip the line," Armstrong stated, emphasizing the strict criteria. However, she highlighted a specific demographic often fast-tracked: "The farmers will get pulled every single time because they are standing there talking to you, most likely drove themselves, and are currently having the biggest STEMI [heart attack] that you have ever seen in your entire life." Armstrong noted that these patients, despite presenting calmly and often appearing outwardly fine, are identified by experienced triage nurses due to subtle indicators of severe, life-threatening conditions. She added that such individuals often haven't seen a doctor in decades, making their sudden appearance in the ER a significant red flag. This practice, she clarified, is not preferential treatment but a critical part of how emergency rooms operate to save lives.
