DVD Trade-In Disappointment: YouTuber Shares Experience with CEX A recent video by content creator Cayle Talks has shed light on the declining value of physical media, specifically DVDs, in the second-hand market. The YouTuber documented his attempt to trade in 100 DVDs at two different CEX stores in the UK, revealing surprisingly low returns. Cayle Talks began his journey at an initial CEX location, where a portion of his collection was accepted. "These two piles would give for £50 if CEX were selling them, or £3.78 on a voucher," he stated, highlighting the significant disparity between retail and trade-in values. The remaining DVDs were rejected by the first store. Undeterred, Cayle then travelled to CEX Stoke, hoping for a more favorable outcome. He noted that other local branches, such as Stafford and Newcastle-under-Lyme, were not accepting £1 DVDs due to reasons like store refurbishment or past vandalism incidents. Upon completing the trade-in at Stoke, he received a second exchange voucher for £3.79. Reflecting on the overall experience, Cayle remarked, "So yeah, about £7.20 all in for 100 DVDs. Did I get ripped off?" The two vouchers, totaling approximately £7.57, underscore the minimal value attributed to large collections of DVDs by the retailer, leading to a discussion among viewers about alternative selling platforms and the current state of physical media.
