
Teen Charged with Murder in Pickering Stabbing
Pickering Stabbing: 14-Year-Old Charged with First-Degree Murder A 14-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of an elderly woman in Pickering, Ontario. Durham Regional Police responded to a call on Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2025, and found the woman suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Acting Staff Sergeant Joanne McCabe of the Durham Regional Police stated, "If there are concerns, uh, to let us know and that we will be in this neighborhood. There will be a police presence and any concerns they have, they're more than welcome to reach out to us." The suspect, a 14-year-old youth from Pickering, was apprehended at his home without incident. His identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Police have not released the victim's name at the request of her family. The investigation is ongoing, and police believe the attack was random. The incident has left the community shocked and saddened. Neighbour Laurie Deoliveira shared, "When I would walk my dog, I would just say hello to her. Nothing close, but yeah, just a member of our community. Anybody in our community you have a sense of connection with, and so it's a real loss for everybody."
