Five Dead in Dominican Republic Drug Bust; Police Raid Follows

Following a shooting that killed five people at a drug trafficking point in Loma de Cabrera, Dominican Republic, authorities launched a major operation. The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), the Central Directorate of Investigations (DICRIM), and the Public Ministry joined forces. They raided a residential building, Villa Progreso, detaining several individuals, including a minor. Residents expressed concern over the large police presence. One resident stated, "They were from Santiago, but we didn't know why they were here." Another added, "The authorities are abusing their power, they won't let us talk to them."
