Dominican Republic: President Abinader Convenes CES Amidst Haitian Crisis; Border Wall Construction to Resume; New Documentary Series Premieres Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – President Luis Abinader has called for an urgent meeting of the Economic and Social Council (CES) on Tuesday, June 3rd, at 10:00 AM to address the escalating crisis in neighboring Haiti and its impact on the Dominican Republic. This follows a meeting on May 14th where a multi-sector dialogue was agreed upon, involving former presidents Hipólito Mejía, Leonel Fernández, and Danilo Medina. Meanwhile, Minister of Defense Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre confirmed that the construction of the border wall will continue in June. During a visit to Pedernales on Monday, the minister oversaw the progress of the wall, stating, "Several stages of the wall are already finalized, and construction will continue with force." He emphasized that despite the situation in Haiti, there is no danger to the Dominican Republic, and the armed forces are ensuring peace and security. In the cultural sphere, the highly anticipated documentary series, Trayectoria, produced by Juan Carlos Albelo, is launching its 2025 season. The series, airing every Sunday at 6:00 PM on Color Visión and the Trayectoria RD YouTube channel, promises in-depth documentaries on iconic figures and moments in Dominican history.
