Outrage in Veragua: Polyclinic Renovation Abandoned, Patients Treated in Funeral Home
Gaspar Hernandez, Dominican Republic – Residents of Veragua are outraged by the state of their local polyclinic. Construction on a renovation project began three years ago but remains incomplete, forcing patients to receive medical care within a funeral home. "The solution is for them to lend a hand to the polyclinic so they can finish it," says Father Francisco, parish priest of the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús church. He describes the situation as unacceptable, highlighting the inadequate facilities and the indignity of treating patients in such a setting. The unfinished polyclinic building shows signs of neglect, with debris and unfinished work visible in the video footage. This situation affects hundreds of people who rely on this healthcare facility. Authorities have yet to respond to the community's concerns.
