Dominican Republic National Police Implements New Patrol Model with Body Cameras and QR Code ID System
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – June 3, 2025 – The director of the Dominican National Police, Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, announced on Tuesday that newly recruited officers will be required to strictly follow the established protocol under the new patrol model. This announcement follows recent public discussions regarding the cost of the new uniforms for the officers. "The new uniform has a number corresponding to the officer's ID card," explained Peralta in an interview. "It also has a QR code that can be scanned remotely, providing access to the officer's name, ID, and other relevant data." The implementation of body cameras was also emphasized, with Peralta stating that these cameras will transmit real-time footage to a central command center for monitoring. This measure aims to enhance transparency and accountability within the police force. Francis Zabala, also present at the event, downplayed concerns about the cost of the new uniforms, stating that it was within the allocated budget. The launch event for the new patrol model and uniform, ‘Soberania 4.0’, was attended by numerous officials and members of the public, symbolizing a commitment to modernizing and improving the National Police.
