
Expoturismo 2025: Santiago Shines as Epicenter of Dominican Tourism
Santiago, Dominican Republic – Expoturismo 2025, the leading tourism fair in the Dominican Republic, opened its doors in Santiago on June 6th. This year's event, the 28th edition, marked a significant milestone by bringing together over 400 travel agencies from across the country, alongside major international players from Mexico, Colombia, Panama, and Europe. The fair showcased the breadth of the Dominican Republic's tourism sector, highlighting the growth of health tourism. Yomairis Gomez, executive director of Expoturismo, emphasized the event's importance as a key tool for tourism commercialization. "Expoturismo represents the real possibility of continuing to grow together, of elevating our brands, and generating linkages," Gomez stated. The event also saw the announcement of a new national health tourism strategy, with Ramón Paulino, president of the Santiago Destination Tourism Cluster, highlighting the impact of health tourism on the city and country. The Minister of Public Health, Victor Atala, was also recognized for his contributions to the sector. The fair concluded with the presentation of awards to the Hotel Matum, the Santiago Botanical Garden, and Atala himself, celebrating their roles in the growth and consolidation of health tourism in the Dominican Republic.
