Durlesti Fire: Government, Council Aid Affected Families

A fire ripped through the roof of a Durlesti apartment building on May 16, 2025, causing significant damage to 1500 square meters of the structure. No injuries were reported. In response, the Moldovan government announced it will provide an initial 10,000 lei in aid to each affected family. "Together with our development partners, we will offer an initial aid of 10,000 lei for each family," stated Alexei Buzu, Minister of Labor and Social Protection. The Durlesti City Council also acted swiftly, allocating 1 million lei from its reserve fund to aid in the recovery efforts. This demonstrates a collaborative effort to support the affected families and rebuild the community. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
