Illegal Attic Construction Exposed After Durlesti Apartment Fire
A fire in Durlesti, Moldova, has revealed an illegally constructed attic in an apartment building. A local commission's investigation determined that the developer had obtained building permits only for a structure without an attic. Liubovi Popa, a legal consultant with the Durlesti mayor's office, stated, "There are several possibilities: either the investor built this unauthorized attic, or the people on the top floor did it themselves." The Prosecutor's Office has opened two criminal cases related to the incident, one for fire safety violations and another for the illegal construction. Violine Moraru, press officer for the Prosecutor's General Office, confirmed the opening of the criminal cases. The fire, which occurred on May 16th, caused significant damage, affecting 15 apartments. This incident highlights the importance of building regulations and safety measures.
