Exclusive Video: Crypto Trader's Dramatic Escape From NYC Townhouse After Weeks of Torture
A 28-year-old Italian cryptocurrency trader was allegedly kidnapped, tortured, and held hostage in a New York City townhouse for weeks. New video footage obtained exclusively by CNN shows the victim's dramatic escape on May 6th. The victim, whose identity is being withheld for his safety, was targeted by two men who were seeking access to his millions of dollars in Bitcoin. According to John Miller, CNN Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst, the victim was tied up and tortured during his captivity. "He was tied up when he was being tortured," Miller said. The victim managed to escape when his captors briefly left the room. He then ran from the first floor, down the stairs to the basement, and bolted for the door that leads upstairs to the street. He encountered a traffic enforcement agent who notified the police. The police responded rapidly and apprehended the suspects. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with the cryptocurrency world and the lengths to which criminals will go to obtain financial gain. CNN has reached out to the attorneys for the suspects but has not yet received a response.
