WWI Submarine Wreck: New Footage Reveals Lost History of USS F-1
In 1917, the USS F-1 submarine collided with another vessel off the coast of San Diego, resulting in the tragic loss of 19 crew members. The wreck remained undiscovered until 1975. Recently, researchers from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution have released stunning new footage of the wreck, providing unprecedented detail of the submarine's condition. "Using deep-sea imaging technology, we captured these never-before-seen images and videos of the wreckage," said Bruce Strickrott from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The footage shows the extent of the damage and offers a poignant reminder of the event. The discovery of this footage is a significant contribution to maritime history and our understanding of this tragic event.
