HUNT, Texas Search efforts are actively continuing in Hunt, Texas, as volunteer groups collaborate with state and local authorities to locate individuals missing in the wake of recent flooding. The operations are concentrated in areas heavily impacted by the floodwaters, particularly outside Camp Mystic, where debris and downed trees present significant challenges to rescue teams. Brooks Holzhausen, a member of the volunteer organization 300 Justice, spoke to CNN, detailing the extensive coordination between his group and various law enforcement agencies. "Obviously, we'd love to recover survivors certainly. That's our hope," Holzhausen stated, acknowledging the difficult nature of the search. He explained that teams are meticulously examining "moss," "nests," and all debris pushed up against and under downed trees, emphasizing the need to "cut them apart" to reach potential victims. The search also involves the specialized assistance of the Parks and Wildlife cadaver dogs, which are crucial in identifying potential locations of missing persons. "They're trying to find as much signage as they can, and then we kind of dig in and see if we can figure out what the dog alerted to," Holzhausen added. For Holzhausen, the mission carries a personal weight. He revealed that his daughters previously worked as counselors at Camp Mystic years ago, making the affected area a "special place" for him. The collective effort underscores a community-wide response, as "everybody that's out here busting their tail" works together in a time of crisis.
