Orchid lovers rave over simple fruit tip that makes blooms ‘explode with life'
Orchids are notoriously difficult to look after, but you can revive a drooping orchid with a simple hack using a fruit.
An innovative plant care technique is gaining traction, demonstrating how to revive orchids that have lost their blooms by repotting them in coconut shells. A recent video tutorial by "creative explained" showcases this method, promising new growth and re-blooming for seemingly dormant orchids. The process begins by carefully removing the orchid from its existing pot and soaking its roots in water. Simultaneously, a fresh coconut is prepared by scraping its outer husk, cracking the shell, and removing the inner meat. The coconut shell is then reassembled, creating a natural, porous container. Next, dead or unhealthy orchid roots, typically white or brown, are trimmed. The healthy roots are then gently wrapped in the moist coconut husk. The orchid is carefully placed inside the prepared coconut shell. According to the demonstrator, coconut husks and shells are "super absorbent," providing an ideal environment for the orchid. This method is said to encourage the orchid to "thrive and grow new roots," eventually leading to new shoots and flower buds. The video concludes by encouraging viewers not to discard orchids after their flowers drop, but to give them "a second chance" using this sustainable recycling approach.
