I'm just shopping, um but I'm glad that I could help you grab your chips." The customer, however, remained unconvinced, questioning, "Why did you help me if you don't work here?" and later, "Are you sure you don't work here because you're dressed like you work here." Emily noted she was wearing "this sweater and blue jeans." The encounter culminated with the customer demanding Emily's name, "I'm going to need your name," and threatening to report her: "I'm going to go to the front, I'm going to ask for a manager and I'm going to ask them if Emily works here, because I'm pretty sure you work here and you're just trying to not get in trouble." Emily maintained her composure, reiterating, "I don't work here," before ending the interaction. The incident has since garnered attention online, with many expressing disbelief at the customer's persistence.
