Drone Delivers Drugs to Sydney Jail: \$220,000 Contraband Seized in NSW Prison Blitz
Parklea Prison Drone Smuggling: \$76,000 Buprenorphine Haul Highlights Security Concerns Sydney, Australia – A brazen attempt to smuggle contraband into Parklea Correctional Centre was foiled recently, highlighting ongoing challenges in maintaining prison security. CCTV footage captured a drone dropping a package into a strategically placed rubbish bin on April 19. The package contained a vape and tobacco. This incident is part of a wider Corrective Services NSW operation targeting smuggled substances. The operation resulted in the seizure of over \$220,800 worth of contraband from jails in Wellington, Kempsey, Nowra, the Hunter, and Silverwater. The most valuable find was 120 buprenorphine strips at Kempsey, estimated to be worth \$76,000. Searches of visitors also yielded significant results. Officers reportedly found four packages of drugs in one woman's bra, white powder in a balloon in another woman's mouth, and drugs and tobacco concealed in a hair tie worn by a third visitor. "If you're foolish enough to try and bring something in that you shouldn't, we will find it, you will be caught and there are tough consequences," warned Minister for Corrections Anoulack Chanthivong. The successful operation underscores the ongoing commitment to combating contraband in correctional facilities.
