Kristina Kuzmič on Her New Book: A Mother's Journey Through Mental Health Challenges and the Power of Openness
SPLIT, Croatia – World-renowned vlogger and author Kristina Kuzmič recently visited Split to promote her latest book, 'Znam kako ću' (I Know How I Will). In an exclusive interview, Kuzmič delved into the deeply personal themes explored in her new work, which chronicles her experience raising a son who grappled with anxiety, depression, and addiction. 'We want to help people feel less alone and overcome the shame associated with mental health,' Kuzmič stated, highlighting the book's core message. She revealed that her son actively participated in the writing process, even contributing the final chapter to offer a teenager's authentic perspective on mental health struggles. 'He told me it really helped him to hear from other people who went through similar situations,' she explained, emphasizing the importance of shared experiences. Kuzmič candidly admitted to her own parenting errors, acknowledging that she initially made assumptions rather than truly understanding her son's needs. 'I learned to be much gentler with myself,' she shared, advocating for self-compassion among parents. She also addressed the lingering stigma surrounding mental health in Croatia, expressing hope that open dialogue, as presented in her book, will encourage more individuals to seek help. 'It’s not fair to tie your self-worth to things outside your control,' she advised, urging individuals not to let their struggles define them. Kuzmič, who describes herself as a 'recovering pessimist,' remains committed to creating content that offers encouragement and authenticity, continuing to share her journey to help others.
