Biševo Island, Croatia – A groundbreaking photography exhibition titled 'From the Heights into Silence' has opened 35 meters underground in the former military tunnels of Cape Gatula on Biševo Island. The unique exhibition, running from June 20 to October 1, 2025, showcases the stunning landscapes of Dalmatia through the lenses of three master photographers: Zvonimir Barišin, Boris Kačan, and Davor Rostuhar. One of the exhibiting photographers expressed his excitement, stating, 'This is the strangest, craziest place for an exhibition I've ever experienced.' Another added, 'I've never had an exhibition in such a beautiful and truly strange place.' The exhibition aims to highlight the island's rich history, including its past in fishing and its strategic tunnels. Despite having only around 20 permanent residents, Biševo attracts over 150,000 visitors annually from around the world, drawn by its natural beauty, including the world-renowned Blue Cave. To enhance the visitor experience, Prefect Boban officially handed over keys to two new electric vehicles. These eco-friendly vehicles will facilitate transport for guests to the interpretive center and the exhibition tunnels, significantly reducing waiting times. 'Biševo has received two new electric vehicles, which are much needed given the large influx of guests,' Prefect Boban stated. 'Thanks to our public institution More i Krš, visitors will no longer have to wait in line for transport to the interpretive center and the tunnels.' The island, whose name 'Biševo' is said to derive from wood eaten by worms, reflecting its numerous caves and pits, continues to evolve as a premier tourist destination, blending cultural events with its natural wonders.
