Spotting Seasonal Allergies: Two Easy Signs You Might Be Missing
Seasonal Allergies: Spotting the Signs Millions suffer from seasonal allergies each year. Identifying symptoms early can improve quality of life. Dr. Jen Caudle, a family doctor and social media influencer, recently shared two easily recognizable signs of allergies in a short video that has gone viral. The first sign, known as "allergic shiners," refers to dark circles under the eyes. These dark circles are caused by blood pooling due to inflammation. "It's a common symptom of seasonal allergies," explains Dr. Caudle in her video. The second sign, "the allergic salute," is a crease across the bridge of the nose. This is caused by the repetitive action of pushing up the nose to relieve congestion. Dr. Caudle notes that she even finds herself doing this. Beyond these visual cues, Dr. Caudle lists other common allergy symptoms including itchy, watery eyes, stuffy or runny nose, scratchy throat, post-nasal drip, and cough. She concludes by emphasizing the importance of seeking medical advice for effective allergy management. "There are great treatment options out there," she says, urging viewers to consult their doctors.
